چکیده

ations of the controllers. Recent trends in air traffic W e explore the use of distributed on-line motion planning algorithms for multiple mobile agents, in A i r Traflc Management Systems (ATMS). The work is motivated by current trends in ATMS to move towards decentralized air trafic management, in which the aircraft operate in “free flight” mode instead of following prespecijied “sky freeways”. Conflict resolution strategies are an integral part of the free flight setting. The purpose of this paper is to obtain a set of maneuvers to cover all possible conflict scenarios involving multiple agents. A distributed motion planning algorithm based on potential and vortex fields is used. While the algorithm is not always guaranteed to generate flyable trajectories, the obtained trajectories can serve as qualitative prototypes for coordination maneuvers between multiple aircraft. The actual maneuvers are generated b y approximating these prototypes with trajectories made up of straight lines and are further verified usang hybrid verification techniques.

Optimizing B-splines using Genetic Algorithms Applied to Air-traffic Conflict Resolution

Conflict resolution has always been a sensitive matter in air-traffic management. Current European projects aim partial or total automation of air traffic control to deal with the constant growth of air traffic. Technological advances on flight management system allows us to consider an automatic conflict resolution using continuous trajectories. In this paper, we present a new methodology that...

Proactive, Reactive, and Interactive Risk Assessment and Management of URET Implementation in Air Route Traffic Control Centers

The current trend within air traffic management (ATM), as a part of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen), is to increase the airspace system capacity to operate in diminishing capacity conditions while improving standards of safety. An extensive body of research exists regarding introducing automation into air traffic control in order to create more flexible and cost-efficien...

Fast-time Simulation Evaluation of a Conflict Resolution Algorithm under High Air Traffic Demand

In this paper, an automated conflict resolution algorithm is evaluated based on fast-time simulations of nominal and heavily increased air traffic demand in the Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center airspace. The algorithm under study is designed to support an automated separation assurance capability for next-generation air traffic management systems. It resolves detected conflicts that a...

A New Prioritization Method for Conflict Detection and Resolution in Air Traffic Management

The current air traffic management systems are not able to manage the enormous capacities of air traffic perfectly and have not sufficient capability to service different types of flights. Free flight is a new concept presented potentially to solve problems in the current air traffic management system. The free flight concept changes the current centralized and command-control airspace system (...

Automated Conflict Resolution for Air Traffic Control

This paper describes a conflict resolution algorithm that can provide automated separation assurance for the next generation air traffic control system. The algorithm generates resolution trajectories that can be sent to the aircraft from a ground-based system via data link. With suitable reconfiguration the algorithm can also be installed on board aircraft to support airborne separation assura...
